Our yellow bucket
It all started with the idea of zero waste.
When we first began offering our curbside service, we needed to provide our customers with their own individual containers to collect food scraps. Rather than introduce additional plastics into the world, we chose to reuse containers that we received from local restaurants. These buckets just happened to be yellow.
As it turns out, the yellow buckets are very functional. Not only are the yellow buckets easy for our drivers to spot when servicing your neighborhood, but darker color buckets often cause the contents to breakdown faster resulting in a mess on your curb. And, so the yellow buckets stuck!
How it works
-
Toss your food scraps in the container we provide.
-
Place your bin on the sidewalk each week on your designated pickup day.
-
A member of our team will empty the bin and provide a fresh liner.
-
We process the scraps and share some of the compost back for use in your garden.
We support local farmers.
Have you ever wondered what we do with the food scraps we collect?
Most of our food scraps are sent to Central Ohio area farmers who are working hard to reduce their reliance on chemical fertilizers or even operate their farms in an organic manner.
We deliver our food scraps to our farm partners who are responsible for processing the food scraps into compost. The farm then reaps 100% of the benefits using nutrient-rich compost on their farms.
If we have more food scraps than our farm partners can handle, we take the rest to certified EPA Class II facilities where we know they will be processed correctly.
